Awakened to morning glory

Pre-dawn at Antrim Dells

Pre-dawn at Antrim Dells

Morning.  I do appreciate the morning and have come to look forward to spending time with God in these early hours.  Often it seems he waits for me to awaken so we can begin our time together.

I wrote this poem many years ago.  It could have been written many times before it was… and many times since as well.

Awakened to morning glory

consciousness seeps into my
sleep-imprisoned mind

slowly I open my eyes,
to stare up into the cool, dark air

its night still
actually
pre-dawn,
but dark still
in my room

my groggy brain doesn’t miss
Who woke me.
the very air
seems to vibrate

Formless particles of night
coalesce to
sing Your praises
until it seems the silence
hisses

I am stirred to my feet
to write these thoughts…

Oh God

be praised

  1. (comment from Cindy) Wow! I don’t remember that poem. You are quite a good writer! :) Of course, I already knew that.

  2. Thanks, my darling. Love you!
